Just Like That! The Tommy Cooper Show @ Coronation Hall
Feb 25 @ 7:30 pm – 9:30 pm
Just Like That! The Tommy Cooper Show @ Coronation Hall

Hambledon Productions presents…Just Like That! – The Tommy Cooper Show: Saturday 25 February – 7.30pm: £13 / £12 Concessions

Tommy Cooper was a true comic genius. His impeccable timing, misfiring magic, trademark fez and quick-fire gags made him an international star and a true icon of the 20th Century. Now, 30 years since his untimely passing, the appetite for his surreal slapstick, classic routines and snappy one-liners, continues to be re-discovered by old and new fans alike.

“Just Like That!” embarks on a new nationwide tour after sell-out successes at the West End’s Museum of Comedy. This all-encapsulating show features John Hewer (Tony Hancock, Hancock’s Half Hour – The ‘Lost’ Episodes) giving “a perfect illusion of time travel” (The Lost Review) and delivering “nuances both obvious and subtle” (TmeOut) as the man in the fez.

The show, first produced in 2014 to mark 30 years since the comedian’s untimely passing, has enjoyed enormous success nationwide and features classic favourites such as “spoon-jar”, “bottle-glass” and the hilarious “Hats” routine, combined with hidden gems and bumbling magic from Cooper’s extensive back catalogue.

John Hewer “captures the Cooper style, from the mumbled speech and loud laughter to the awkward giant-body language” (The Stage) as he brings Cooper back to life in this family-friendly show that’s a must for all generations of knockabout comedy.

For die-hard Cooper fans, it’s the chance to relive those memories and join in the groan-worthy gags and famous routines (plus plenty of lesser-known surprises and belly laughs!) For others, it’s a perfect evening of music-hall inspired entertainment that’ll have you rolling in the aisles – jus’-like-that!

Complete with live musical accompaniment, this highly acclaimed tribute show is “a loving ode to a comic oddball” (Beyond The Joke) and is the perfect celebration of Britain’s favourite comedian.

“If you fancy a trip down memory lane, then it’s ticket, money, money, ticket – just like that!” – Chortle

LOGISTICS (HOSPITAL RECORDS)
Signing exclusively to Hospital in 2004, Logistics worked solidly on creating masterpieces such as “Together”, “Spacejam”, ”The Trip” and “Release The Pressure”. Logistics quickly became known for bridging the gap between liquid funk, which, until then had often been a lacklustre sub-genre and a more exciting, dance floor orientated variety of Drum + Bass. It’s Logistics’ influence that has been picked up by the major DJs in the scene such as Andy C and Friction, and his anthemic creations have contributed greatly to the modern Hospital sound.

Logistics’ debut LP “Now More Than Ever“ was released in the autumn of 2006; a hugely ambitious project, restraining no less than 24 speaker busting tunes beneath its calm exterior and soon became known as a classic. In 2007 Logistics also submitted his “Medical History” and 18 months on, having scooped “Best Album” at the 1xtra Bass awards for his debut album, Logistics dropped his second long player “Reality Checkpoint“. Rammed full of genre-bending goodness it was heralded as a glimpse of the future with dubstep and electronica influences fusing together with the anthemic Logistics sound.

2008 saw the Luke Skywalker of the ”Future Sound Of Cambridge” drop the massive track “Cosmonaut” and feature on several awesome collabs with Commix and brother Nu:Tone, keeping sub basses across the land pounding for the rest of the year. Having been locked away deep in the Degobah system making tracks, 2009 was time for Logistics to unleash the full power of the force with the onomatopeic “Crash Bang Wallop“, smacking dancefloors and stereos hard.

In 2012 Logistics returned to the studio, producing both under Logistics and his Nu:Logic moniker with brother Nu:Tone. April 2012 saw the release of ‘Fear Not’ an arguably more cohesive and ambitious than his previous efforts, covering a variety of tempos and styles. Later, the sum of brotherly combined powers led to LP’s ‘Morning Light’ and ‘Everlasting Days’ that showcase a nebula of new sounds and techniques. Similarly, their album ‘What I’ve Always Waited For’ oozes the kind of soulful Drum and Bass that harks back to the foundation of the Hospital label.

The Great South Lakes Energy Extravaganza @ Coronation Hall

Roll up and power down! It’s the Big South Lakes Energy Extravaganza on Saturday 4 March – an energetic buffet about all things green and sustainable:

* eco workshops
* talks
* displays
* stalls

It’s just the thing for anyone who wants to live a bit greener and get their carbon footprint down. We’re powering up for a bumper day of eco goings-on. You’ll be able to share your own ideas and take away inspiration, hands-on skills, information and advice in equal measure!

The free fair is funded by South Lakeland District Council as part of their wider work to reduce carbon emissions and fuel poverty. It will serve up tips on growing your own food, free workshops on maintaining your bicycle, and demonstrations of upcycling and making furniture out of pallets.

Householders will be able find out about heating the home with renewable energy, from wood burners to solar panels. And for anyone feeling energetic, they can put pedal power to the test and power up some lights on the South Lakes Action on Climate Change intriguing energy bikes.

The fair will feature an exhibition of stunning photography illustrating the impact of climate change from all over the world. Cumbrian photographer Ashley Cooper will be talk about his experiences during ten years of travel, with photographs collected together in his brand new book, ‘Images from a Warming Planet’.

Businesses, too, can benefit from the advice on offer at the fair. For anyone from local companies, it’s well worth dropping in because you’ll be able to talk to an expert in operating in a sustainable way. Far from costing more, you can actually save money by running more efficiently, especially where energy use is concerned.

For communities looking to explore energy schemes in their area, from hydro power to solar panels on a community building, there’ll be a chance to speak to people from Cumbria who’ve made it happen in their area. Representatives from Community Energy Cumbria and from Energy 4 All, two Cumbrian organisations behind many successful community-owned renewable energy schemes, will be on hand to share their experiences and advice.
